Today I parked next to my coworker's Ram 1500 quad cab something something dude ranch edition. You can't see in this pic how ridiculously long it is compared to my car, but the roof of my car is juuust about even with the beltline of the truck.
While I think it's stupid to commute in such a vehicle, I guess I don't have much ground to stand on with my 320 hp turbo I6 that drinks premium and has a "back seat" in name only. We just have different types of inefficient vehicles that we enjoy.

I sat in the back of a 2 Series and it had plenty of room, is the 1 really that much worse?

the high belt lines though. Yesterday I was getting into a gas pump and I saw some jackass in a ford explorer prepare to back in, even though I was there first. I knew I could scoot into the pump but I bet he wouldn't see me.
So I didn't I just honked as he backed in. When he came to talk to me these were his words "sorry man, I didn't see you at all". Confidence inspiring.

I've had an adult human in the back seat of my car exactly one time: when I test drove it I moved the front seat way far forward and was able to get in the back. With the front seats adjusted for my 5'11" self and my 5'9" gf, full-sized humans sitting in the back seat is...unrealistic. Haven't tried the back seat of the 2 for comparison.

It's shockingly comfortable. Not too roomy, but I wouldn't complain on hour long trips.
I'm only 5'8" so that might be the reason.

Welcome to Casa De Yamahog, where the roof of CrzRsn's Miata barely reaches the door handles of my XJ.

Nice 1er! You're braver than I am pulling up to those curbs my man.

I nearly could have parked the Miata UNDER my stock Tundra. Well not quite, but I do like sharing this picture. The entire body of the Miata is level, or under, the rear bumper.

Thanks, the shadow makes it look closer to the curb than it really is. But I know what you mean, gotta be careful with the M Sport bumper. Parking blocks are the worst.

According to the specs, the 2 has 1.8" more rear shoulder room, and 1" more rear legroom, than the 1.
Combine that with me being a little taller than you, so if your front seat is adjusted for your 5'8" self and then your 5'8" self gets in the back, that's another 3" more rear legroom for a 3" shorter person.

You know, I've never actually bothered to park my 135is next to my WJ. I live in an apartment with 1 garage space, so the BMW stays in the garage and the Jeep gets parked outside.

Hmmmm, maybe they aren't so different, and I'm just short.

Agreed. I've always been super careful about those things, but now that I have the carbon splitters on the M I have reached an entirely new level of over-abundant caution. I'm lucky if I stop within 5 feet of the curb/block/sidewalk/whatever lol. I'm sure it looks ridiculous to most people, but hey - no scratches!

I figure if I park kinda far away from the curb, it doesn't really matter since most other cars are so much longer than mine anyway.
I do have to do some mental re-calibration after driving my Grand Cherokee all winter, because it's got enough clearance to just drive right up (and over) any parking blocks, square curbs or whatever other BMW-bumper-mangling hazards there might be out there. That's usually the time of year where I park the BMW like 3 feet away from curbs.

Oh man that Jeep sounds like a joy! It's been a VERY long time (since July of 2009, actually) since I had a car that didn't give me anxiety when it was parked out in public. I'm going to buy a used truck for this winter, I think, and I absolutely cannot wait to park all up on a curb's face, or in the parking spot closest to a building and not even care about the other idiots who might dent my doors. Sigh, BMW ownership...

I look at this when I need to laugh. Based on the headrests, I bet my face rode lower than the ram driver's seat.
